As the preeminent international service organization of the United States, the Peace Corps sends Americans abroad to tackle the most pressing needs of people around the world. More than 215,000 Americans have served in 140 countries since 1961, both helping to promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served, and helping to promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
The problem was that former Peace Corps application process was LONG. The application itself took about 10 hours to complete and once completed, there was a 9-12 months wait before actually leaving for service. This is changing with the new and improved process. The application will take less than an hour to complete,and the Volunteers will be on a plane to their Peace Corps country in about 6 months.
The aim of this explainer video was to make the viewer to understand that applying to the Peace Corps is easy and that they will be able to choose where they go and what they do as a Volunteer. We also want them to know that being a Volunteer is an awesome adventure that will open doors to their future, help them in their career and really create sustainable change in a community overseas.
